Praktijkcollege Zuidwijk, The Netherlands

Rotterdam’s green belt is reflected in the school windows. Set deeply recessed into the façade, these windows are framed by bronze-coloured ALUCOBOND® premium anodised tray panels. Offering both protection against the sun and creating covered entrance ways over the numerous doors in the building, these box-like shapes add a bold sculptural quality.

The light shade of real anodized aluminium featured on the building’s surface communicates a friendly but robust impression. This is a perfect fit for the vocational school’s concept: it is a sheltered space for young people and its restaurant and bicycle workshop are also open to district residents.
